Firefighters received a call around 6:41 a.m., Wednesday, March 27, for a fire in Apt. 6A on the first floor at the Hudson Garden Apartments at 120 Hudson Ave., said City of Poughkeepsie Fire Chief Mark Johnson.

"Our first arriving units encountered a fire that started in the bedroom area," Johnson said. "There were no occupants home, they had already left for the day."

Firefighters were able to put out the fire within 15 minutes, but the chief said the entire apartment suffered heavy smoke, fire and water damage.

No other apartments were damaged from the fire. And, no civilians or firefighters were injured, Johnson said.

Arlington Fire Department, Fairview Fire Department, City of Poughkeepsie police and Mobile Life assisted at the scene.
